If there’s one thing I love, it’s a good skincare hack! Especially as someone who highly prefers natural products over chemical-filled ones, I am always on the prowl for simple, natural things to implement into/switch to in my skincare routine. After going through the ingredients in the products I used to use in products I would use daily on my face, my findings were pretty horrifying and I threw alot of them out after researching each one out individually and looking at the affects they can have on our bodily systems. After all, everything that we put onto our skin goes into our blood stream, so what we use on our bodies everyday should definitely be given some thought, right?!
Unavoidable factors including sun exposure, pollution in the air, eating unhealthy foods and stress can contribute to issues like acne, dull skin, dark circles, puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores and other things.
I was looking through our freezer one day, and my eyes landed on the ice tray and I had a random thought – “I wonder if ice would do anything for my skin”. I had heard that it can fight puffiness, so thought I would give it a try and see if it benefited my skin at all. In the next section I will discuss what I discovered after doing some research.
THE BENEFITS OF APPLYING ICE TO YOUR FACE
– ice helps tighten the skin
– ice helps minimise pores
– minimise production of excess oil
– ice reduces redness and swelling which can help with pimples/breakouts
– can help reduce puffiness and dark circles under eyes
– due to its pore minimising abilities, it can help prime face before makeup application
– facilitates blood circulation and helps promote a healthy glow
– can ward off wrinkles and premature ageing
THE FIRST THING I NOTICED
The first time I applied it was before bed. I rubbed it around in small circles on my face and under my eyes. It’s not really the most pleasant feeling rubbing freezing cold ice around on your face right before going to bed in the winter, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!
The next morning, I was amazed at how clear my skin looked. It had an extra “firm” look to it as well, and I was really happy with how my makeup looked that day – it just looked extra smooth. That night, I applied the ice again – this time with a paper towel over it. (The first time, I hadn’t done my homework in regards to how to apply it and I had put ice directly onto my skin – apparently that can cause issues and rosacea) I put it in the paper towel, and I waited a little while until the ice started to soak through it a tiny bit, and then rubbed it over my face. Again, my skin had a really nice extra smooth look and feel to it, and it feels so nice putting moisturiser on after doing it too!
The first two or three days I did it just at night, but I then switched to (and will continue) doing it both morning and night. I also rub the ice over my neck.
WHAT I’VE NOTICED AFTER A WEEK
My pores look so much better than they did before! I have noticed that my moisturiser and makeup goes on like a dream after using ice on my face. I also feel like it is looking extra clear and firm and I’ve had a couple of pimples pop up, and they have definitely gone away alot faster with using ice than without using ice. I am loving my results and will absolutely continue doing this daily.
ONE LAST TIP:
Add a bit of green tea into your ice cube tray! When you apply it to your face you’ll get those antioxidant benefits on your skin!
